The specific issue I was trying to resolve with the bank was a missing $1,000 transaction.
The $1,000 transaction and the $1,010 transaction are completely different transactions.
I specifically told the bank employee that I was looking for the $1,000 transaction because the $1,000 was missing from my account records. The employee instead pointed to a separate $1,010 transaction.
I immediately told him, “That is not my transaction. I am asking about the $1,000 transaction.”
The $1,010 transaction does not resolve or explain the missing $1,000.
My concern is specifically what happened to the $1,000 and why it does not appear correctly in my account records. I am requesting that Fifth Third investigate the $1,000 transaction separately and provide the records showing how that $1,000 was received, deposited, transferred, withdrawn, or otherwise processed.
I did not authorize a $1,000 cash withdrawal and I did not receive $1,000 in cash.
If Fifth Third maintains that the $1,000 was withdrawn by me, I request the underlying transaction record and any withdrawal slip or image supporting that conclusion.
I am also concerned that I may have been treated differently because of my national origin and/or race.
I am from India, and during my interactions at the branch I felt that I was treated more roughly and was not given the same level of patience, assistance, and respect that I observed being provided to other customers.
I do not claim that I can personally prove the reason for the employee's behavior. However, based on what I experienced and observed, I believe there may have been unequal treatment, and I am asking Fifth Third to investigate whether race or national origin played any role.
My concern is particularly based on the way my request to investigate the missing $1,000 was handled. Rather than helping me review the specific transaction I identified, the employee directed me to a different $1,010 transaction, became upset when I explained that it was not the transaction I was asking about, and told me to leave the branch.
I was attempting to obtain information about my own account and expected to receive reasonable and respectful assistance.
I respectfully request that Fifth Third investigate this concern separately from the financial transaction dispute and provide a written response.
